Gel Permeation Chromatography

Principle:
Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) has gained a wide acceptance as an empirical method for determining the molecular weight distribution in polymer, proteins and petroleum complex compounds (e.g. Asphaltenes and Resins). In this technique, the dissolved sample of molecules flow through a column packed with porous polystyrene-gel beads. The molecules emerge from the column in the order of decreasing molecular size, beginning with the larger molecules.

GPC Specifications:

  • Low time for stabilization.
  • Solvent delivery Units with Parallel-type double plunger, pressure 40MPa, Flow-rate setting range; 0.0001-10.0000 mL/min, Liquid-leakage sensor, high-pressure/low-pressure limits, 0.03 MPa (for water at 1.0 mL/min, and 7 Mpa.
  • High Repeatability; Flow-Rate Precision is not more than 0.06% RSD or 0.02 min SD
  • Easily Creates GPC Calibration Curves using a Visual Interface; Data Comparison Features Simplify Analysis of Multiple-Sample Data.
  • Column Ovens with forced air circulation temp. (40ºC-85ºC, dim 220 (W) × 365 (H) x 95 (D) mm.
  • Auto sampler, Number of processed samples 175 (1 mL vials).
  • RI Detector dual temperature control optical system, refractive index 1-1.75 RIU, operating flow rate 20mL/min cell volume 9ul; UV-VIS detector deuterium lamp, l: 190-700nm (BW 8nm, l accuracy: 1 nm max standard cell included).
  • LC Workstation with GPC software system

Determination of the molecular weight of hug molecules e.g. polymers, tires, proteins, complex petroleum compounds (e.g. Asphaltenes and Resins).
